Je dors sous les mers, et je danse sur le vent;
je joue dans les feux, et parcours ce Terre tranquillement.

I'm taking this upcoming semester off from school. I'm presently in Florida for the holidays, where I will remain, working, until the end of January. From there, things are somewhat up in the air.

Ideally, I'll save up enough money in January to buy a plane ticket to Maui. Then, I'll meet my friends Laura and Brandon on the island and we'll all live together and get jobs to support ourselves (until I begin school in Montreal in May). Brandon is already there. He currently works as a delivery boy for a floral service--he cruises around the island in the company truck to brighten peoples' days. He lives in a bright yellow bus parked near a beach with his friend Thaddeus. Laura is still in Houston to spend the holidays with her family. Being around Laura and Brandon makes me so happy; they certainly have a special relationship.

If I don't make it to Hawaii, to live on beaches and bathe in oceans and buy my meals daily from fruit markets and watch stars or rainbows, then I'll find somewhere else to live. Point being, I'm taking this semester off for myself, and I won't spend it all in Pensacola where nothing happens in a grand way. After this, I return to school in the summer and (in order to graduate in a timely manner) I'll be in school for the next six or seven consecutive terms. It'll be worth it, because I'll make it worth it.

In the meantime, I've enjoyed being home for December. I love my family very much, especially my siblings. Plus, it's been very good to spend time with my childhood friends whom I still hold dear, even though I can feel a certain degree of separation after we've all branched off and forged our own paths in the wilderness. I love them regardless and they love me.

I'm still no closer to discovering what the future has in store for me, but I'm learning to let it come at its own pace.

Happy holidays, everyone. I'd love to hear updates on your lives for any of you who come across this.

Love and peace,
David

Over half a year later...

I don't think that anyone reads this anymore. I don't mind.

In that case, I'll give a list-form rundown of the past 7 months.

- moved to Montreal
- made some amazing friends
- did badly last semester; learned from my mistakes
- added Child Studies as my second major (along with French Language)
- doing well this semester; love my sex-role socialization class
- in Pensacola for reading week
- listening to a lot of the beatles, led zeppelin, the zombies, the doors, gong, and love
- not happy, not sad, content and accepting.

me and my arrow

I have about 27 days left in Pensacola. I'm leaving for Montreal on the 25th. I have a single dorm room--it'll be nice to have my own space--on the Loyola campus (as opposed to the downtown SGW campus). I have classes on both campuses, though.

Oh yeah! I registered for my classes (in case anyone is curious)...

Fall term, I have Introductory Psychology, The Human Environment: Place, Space, and Identity, French: Transitional Level, and Encountering World Religions. Winter term, I have Intro. Psych (continued), Introduction to Society, Langue Française: Niveaux Interdemédiares I et II, and General Biology (for non-science students, you see).

I think they all sound pretty cool, to me.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well.
